John's Comments

It's hard to believe that we have owned Cedar Creek almost eight years.  When we purchased it in June 2000 I was expecting a nice retirement.  I'd work on the weekends and relax during the week.  What a fairy tale.  I have never worked so hard in my life.  Yes, we work with the public on the weekends, but the weeks are hard manual labor, building and repairing.

During January we entered into a contract with Jay and Melissa B. to purchase the park.  Our goal is to have closing in April, but it might be later.  Jay and Melissa, a nice young couple have great ideas for the park and the energy to complete them.  They have been members of the park for four years.  And yes, they will keep it an AANR 100% park.

While I am happy to have a purchaser for the park I'm sad to be selling the park.  I have put a lot of sweat equity into the place.  We have enjoyed the years at Cedar Creek.  But, its now time for us to actually retire and relax.  We have purchased a RV that we will keep at the park.  At least for the first year we will spend most weekends at the park to help Jay and Melissa. However, Susan is already planning our first trip.

It's been a sense of accomplishment seeing the park grow with new members and expanded activities.  The Social Committee has been wonderful with planning and executing activities.  We could not have done this by ourselves.  Also, we thank all the members who have jumped in to help.

Jay and Melissa have been members of Cedar Creek for the past four years.  They have a RV site here and have been active in park activities during this time.  Currently they both work in residential construction with Melissa having her residential contractor's license.  Until recently they lived in the Chapin, SC area which is about an hour away.  They hope to continue running their construction business as well as run the park.
They are very energetic and have many new ideas on improving Cedar Creek.  Melissa will be starting to work with John in mid February so that she will be up to speed on the operations of the park.  She will be taking over Mike S's job and will be doing the cleaning, taking care of the pools and hot tubs, grounds maintenance, and minor repairs and maintenance.  She will also be learning all of the office functions necessary to operate the park.  I don't think either have yet to grasp what is necessary in running the park.
I wonder if several years from now their answer to "What prompted you to buy a nudist park"  will be the same as mine has been for the last five years.  As most of you know my stock answer to that question has always been, "An act of foolishness."

Park Activities

The new clubhouse has made a difference for the members.  It hasn't drawn the additional guests we were hoping for...maybe we should advertise more.

Water aerobics are going strong.  There are about 12 members who participate at various times.   The water is a nice temperature and then we relax in the hot tub.  Exercise times are Wednesday and Friday at 7 PM,  and Saturday at 10 AM (depending on other events).

Plans are underway for the annual 5K Running Bare race on April 19.  All the proceeds go to the Friends of the Pelion Library.  This takes lots of planning and lots of volunteers.  Let us know what you would like to do.

Adopt-a-Highway is our community service project.  Idelle coordinates it.  Four times a year we clean up trash on 178.  It really is fun and a great way to get to know others.  We all have to pile in the back of the pickup and hope no one falls off.  The next one will be in May.

The Social Committee works hard to have activities every month, but they need suggestions from you.  What have you seen at other clubs that was fun?  Any one up for a Cedar Creek Olympics during the summer?  I'm sure we'll be as entertaining as those in China.
